Math Courses
Math Courses
This course is offered to those that are just starting the math curriculum. Basic Arithmetic will be discussed (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division). A basic understanding of numbers and their relations will also be instilled within the learners seeking a strong foundation. This course will contain the prerequisites required to succeed in more advanced math.
Grade: 3
This course if for those that have surpassed the Math Fundamentals. Students learn how to do slightly more complex arithmetic with new categories of numbers rather than simple integers (Decimals, Fractions, negative numbers...). Easier concepts of number theory are introduced to keep students far more advanced than the regular curriculum. The goal of this course is to help students achieve mastery in arithmetic.
Grades: 3 - 4
After mastery of the Basic Arithmetic Courses, students can start learning about more complicated concepts. Prime Numbers & Composite Numbers, Factors & Multiples, Prime Factorization, LCM & GCF, basic equations & inequalities, square roots, percentages, and ratios are amongst the vast topics covered in this course. A little bit of geometry is also introduced here.
Grades: 4 - 5
After full comprehension of all arithmetic operations, simple equations, and basic number theory, students are ready to learn the fundamentals of pre-algebra. The geometry of complex shapes such as circles, cones, and spheres are introduced. Basic Statistics concepts are also discussed. Functions and relations are also involved in this course along with Solving for Variables in basic and complex equations. The Coordinate Plane is also introduced.
(Pre-assessment required)
Grades: 4-5
Here, we dive into the more visual aspects of math. Functions are taken to more depth, and linear equations are introduced. Inequalities are explored both graphically, and numerically from word problems. Systems of equations are also introduced in this course. Proportions can also be found throughout this course. The Heart of Algebra and foundations of problem-solving are the underlying messages of this course. Students in elementary school can get a taste of advanced topics to be covered in Algebra and Geometry.
(Pre-assessment required)
Grade: 5
Linear equations are reviewed to complete depth. After that, the course progresses to Quadratics and Basic Polynomials. How to factor, use the quadratic formula, use Vieta's formulas, and complete the square are discussed here. Function Components and Developing Functions are two major topics discussed. Soon, higher-degree polynomials, are explained. A quick de-tour on Probability is also included. Afterwards, Logarithms are talked through. (Pre-assessment required)
